A number of searches have been carried out in homes and lock-ups in north Dublin as part of the investigation  into the murder of David Byrne.

More than 100 gardaí, including uniformed and armed support units, searched around 11 homes and lock-ups as part of the investigation into the shooting at the Regency Hotel over two weeks ago.

The searches were carried out in Clontarf and the north inner city around Ballybough and Summerhill and were focused on individuals and the activities of one of two feuding criminal gangs in Dublin.

The searches began at around 7am and were led by officers from Ballymun.
