Last month’s €66,188,316m EuroMillions winning ticket was sold in Carlow.

The National Lottery has  announced the ticket was sold at Easons, Fairgreen Shopping Centre, Carlow town, the day after a syndicate collected the prize.

The group of friends purchased a €15 Quick Pick ticket on 27 January, two days before matching the winning numbers to share a €132,376,632 jackpot.

The other winning-ticket was sold in France.

The Irish winners wish to remain anonymous.

"This is by any standards, enormous good fortune," the purchaser of the ticket told the National Lottery.

“We are completely dumbstruck to have won this fantastic prize.

"It's a life changing amount of money for each of us."

The prize is the fourth largest lottery jackpot won by Irish players.

Other notable Irish wins include €115 million won in 2005 in Limerick, a €94 million win in June 2013 in Dublin and an €86.7 million win in Dublin in September 2014.
