An investigation is under way into the circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old girl in Dublin yesterday evening.
The teenager was in a nightclub in Dublin city centre on Friday night when she collapsed on Middle Abbey Street at around 3am on Saturday morning.
She was taken to the Mater Hospital where she died at around 5.30pm this evening.
Gardaí are investigating reports that she may have taken pills which she believed to be ecstasy.
However, officers at Store Street Garda Station say for now they are treating this as a sudden death and will not know the cause of death until a post-mortem examination and toxicology tests have been carried out.
They are appealing for anyone who has information to contact them at Store Street Garda Station.
