A jury at the High Court has found that Shell to Sea protester Patrick Coyle was not unlawfully assaulted by gardaí at the gas refinery in Bellanaboy Co Mayo.
Mr Coyle, a farmer, of Barnatra, Ballina had sued the Garda Commissioner and State over an alleged unlawful assault on him by gardaí on 19 January 2007.
Brothers Patrick and Martin O'Donnell, both fishermen with addresses at Porturlin, Shore, Ballina, had also taken two separate actions against the Garda Commissioner and State over the alleged unlawful assaults on them by gardaí on the same date.
The jury of seven men and four women could not reach a verdict in these actions.
