An investigation is being carried out after a businessman was robbed at gunpoint by a man dressed in women's clothing in south Dublin early this morning.

The incident occurred at Terenure Road East at around 4.45am.

The 44-year-old business man was attempting to lodge cash at a bank deposit box in Rathgar.

He was approached and threatened by another man who was dressed in women's clothing and armed with what is believed to be a handgun.
