A 68-year-old man who interrupted a burglary at his home in Douglas in Cork City has been stabbed.
The man, who is said to be a well known local business man, returned to his home at around 4.30pm to find a male intruder in his house.
A struggle ensued and the man received a head injury and what is believed to be a stab wound to his lower body.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital, where his injuries are described as non life threatening.
The suspect escaped on foot with a computer and camera equipment.
