The wife of Liam Adams has issued a statement saying her husband was never exiled or moved around the Republic in the 1980s after abuse allegations were made against him.

Last year, at Belfast Crown Court Liam Adams was jailed for raping and abusing his daughter from his first marriage over a six year period up to 1983.

During his trial he consistently denied the charges and his appeal against that conviction is due to be held next March.

His second wife, Brona Adams,  issued the statement in response to reports in a number of Sunday newspapers.
