Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Tullow, Co Carlow.

The body of 41-year-old Latvian national Gints Intenbergs was found in a house he was renting on the Graigeowen estate on the outskirts of the town this morning.

Another man in the house has been taken to St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries.

Gardaí received a phone call sometime after 9am reporting a violent incident at the house.

It is understood neighbours contacted emergency services.

State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy will carry out a post mortem examination this evening. A technical examination is taking place at the scene.

The two men, one of whom is Irish and the other Latvian, are being held in Carlow Garda Station.
