SmartStart has announced that two of its firms, SWG and MDS Global Technologies, will create 50 jobs in Meath over the next two years

Located in Kells Enterprise and Technology Centre the positions will be created in the areas of engineering, research and design, sales and support, marketing and administration.

SmartStart works with start-ups to provide financial, legal, technology and business development guidance.

The company, which was established in 2011, is an Irish centric global accelerator programme for tech firms. 

Elsewhere, Dublin Whiskey Company is to create 30 jobs in a new distillery and visitors' centre in the capital.

The company will be investing over €10m in developing its 300-year-old site in Mill Street.

The company says over 60 people will be employed during the construction phase beginning early next year, with 30 permanent jobs coming on-stream upon completion at the latter end of the year.

Meanwhile information security firm Ward Solutions has said it would create 22 new jobs at its Dublin and Belfast offices over the next two years.

The new roles will be in areas including customer services, technical and sales and come as part of a €1.8m investment.

Ward Solutions said 16 of the jobs will be in its Dublin office, with the remainder being filled in Belfast.
