A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting in a Cork pub on Sunday night.

The 30-year-old man was arrested earlier today in the Banteer area.

He is being questioned at Mallow Garda Station and can be held for up to 72 hours.

A 35-year-old man was shot in the neck with an air rifle after a lone gunman entered the White Country Inn in Banteer.

He was not seriously injured and caught a taxi home after declining an offer of an ambulance to take him to hospital.

A firearm was recovered by gardaí at the scene. It has been sent for forensic analysis.
