An 18-year-old man has been charged after a woman in her 50s died in a three-vehicle crash in Co Waterford.

The collision happened at around 5.30pm yesterday at Kiely's Cross, Ardmore.

The woman who died had been a back-seat passenger in one of the cars. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two other occupants of the car were taken to hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.

Two people in a second car were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The two occupants of a third car, including the driver who was arrested, were uninjured.

The driver was taken to Dungarvan Garda Station for questioning and was charged this evening.

He is due to appear at Cashel District Court at midday tomorrow.

The road was closed for a forensic examination but has since reopened.
