A teenager accused of murdering teacher Ann Maguire in her classroom "has accepted responsibility for the unlawful killing", Leeds Crown Court has been told.

No pleas were entered and a trial on the murder charge is scheduled to take place in November.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reason, was charged with the murder of the 61-year-old Spanish teacher in April.

Ms Maguire was attacked stabbed to death in front of her pupils in a classroom on 28 April at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Leeds.

The accused spoke twice during the hearing - to confirm his name and to acknowledge he understood what was happening when the judge asked him at the end.
