A man has been arrested for questioning in connection with the murder of a 58-year-old father-of-two in Co Kerry two years ago.

James Cahillane was found dead at his home near Beaufort in April 2012.

His body was found by firemen in the hallway of his home outside Killorglin on 19 April 2012.

It was initially thought that Mr Cahillane died as a result of a fire that destroyed his home.

However, a subsequent post-mortem examination revealed he had suffered extensive head injuries in a beating. His death was then treated as murder.

In a number of public appeals for information, gardaí said they believed local people had information about Mr Cahillane's death, and the key to solving his murder lay in the community.

This morning, investigating gardaí arrested a 29-year-old man at his home in Killorglin.

It is understand that this is the second time this man has been arrested for questioning about the murder.

He is being questioned at Tralee Garda Station and can be held for a maximum of 24 hours.
