A 63-year-old woman has died following a road crash in Co Wexford.

The woman was fatally injured when the vehicle she was travelling in struck a wall in New Ross at 7.00pm this evening.

She was pronounced dead at scene. Her body was taken to Wexford General Hospital where a post mortem is to be arranged.

The male driver, 59, was also brought to Wexford General Hospital. His injuries are described as not serious.

There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.

The scene was preserved to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since re-opened.

Gardaí have made an arrest in connection with their investigation.
