The army's bomb disposal team is investigating a suspect device which it removed from a residential area yesterday near the Longford village of Drumlish.
A spokesperson for the Defence Forces said the army bomb disposal team had been deployed at the request of the Garda Síochana yesterday afternoon to investigate a suspect improvised explosive device.
Investigations into the composition of the device are continuing.
Gardaí said houses were evacuated during the operation and, after a few hours, the device was taken away.
There were no reports of injuries.
