Two men in their 50s have been killed in a crash in Co Waterford.

The single-vehicle crash happened shortly after 9am on a narrow road off the N24 between Clonmel and Kilsheelan.

The lorry in which the men were travelling was coming from the Co Waterford direction towards Clonmel and was descending a steep hill when gardaí say it lost control.

It is understood the driver and his passenger died instantly.

The men are both believed to be from Co Waterford.

The section of road was closed for a number of hours to facilitate a garda examination and local diversions were in place.
