A man in his early 30s is still being held in connection with the death of a 30-year-old woman in a hotel in Dublin over the weekend.
The body of Sonia Blount was discovered by cleaning staff in a room at the Plaza Hotel in Tallaght yesterday afternoon.
Ms Blount sustained injuries consistent with a violent death and gardaí are treating the case as murder.
Gardaí have received the preliminary results of a post mortem examination, but the details have not been released for operational reasons.
Ms Blount, who was from Tallaght, had checked into the hotel alone on Saturday evening.
At 9.30pm last night a man handed himself in at a Dublin garda station and was arrested and taken to Tallaght.
The man, who is from Clondalkin in Dublin, knew the victim.
He can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
