Four men have been arrested in Dublin after gardaí seized a firearm, ammunition and a quantity of drugs in Balbriggan tonight.

Local gardaí and members of the Emergency Response Unit carried out searches at four locations.

During the course of the searches they found a handgun, ammunition, and cannabis and cocaine with an estimated street value of €38,000.

Two men in their 30s and two men in their 20s were arrested.

They are being detained at garda stations in Balbriggan, Swords, Clontarf and Drogheda.

They are to appear in Balbriggan District Court tomorrow morning to be charged with various offences.
