Brazilian court releases statement on Michael Lynn investigationThursday 24 October 2013 17.30
A statement has been released by the court in Brazil that questioned former solicitor Michael Lynn earlier this week.
The Federal Court in Recife said Mr Lynn told the judge he was unaware that there were any charges against him by the Irish authorities until he was detained in Brazil earlier this year.
Mr Lynn, 45, was questioned by the court on Monday evening as part of an investigation into an extradition request by Irish authorities.
It is unclear how long the process will take or when a final decision will be made regarding the extradition request.
While Brazil and Ireland do not have a formal extradition agreement, the two nations have entered into a temporary bilateral agreement, based on stated reciprocity.
