Thousands of Clare supporters gathered in Ennis this evening to welcome the newly-crowned All-Ireland hurling champions with the Liam McCarthy Cup.

Davy Fitzgerald's team secured the title by defeating Cork by 5-16 to 3-16 in a thrilling replay in Croke Park yesterday evening.

The first final under floodlights is being rated by experts as one of the greatest of all time with Cork gallant losers in a closely-fought battle.

Clare supporters met the team in Tim Smythe Park - formerly The Fair Green - in Ennis.

The squad visited Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin this morning before heading home.
