A child beauty pageant that caused controversy after it was cancelled by a Dublin hotel has taken place in Co Monaghan.
The Universal Royalty Pageant was held at Corrigan's Pub in Castleblayney.
The organisers could not confirm the final numbers of participants.
It is understood around 20 contestants including toddlers, children and teenagers took part.
A spokesperson for Universal Royalty said the company would consider staging a similar contest in Ireland again.
Yesterday, Minister for Children Frances Fitzgerald welcomed the decision by the Bracken Court Hotel in Balbriggan to cancel the booking of the pageant, labelling such events as “inappropriate”.
