An Irishman has died in Melbourne, Australia after sustaining head injuries on Saturday.

Eoin Murray, 30, from Leixlip, Co Kildare had been in a critical condition in hospital since then.

Australian police are awaiting the outcome of a post-mortem examination, but are not treating his death as suspicious at this point.

Mr Murray became an Australian citizen in March and was working as head of strategy for a website in Melbourne.

He is a business graduate of Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology and previously worked at Dublin radio station 98FM.

It is understood his family had travelled from Ireland to be by his side.
