Two men have been arrested in Dublin after gardaí pursued them and discovered two loaded guns and a bulletproof vest.

Two detectives were on patrol in Dolphin's Barn in the south inner city, when they spotted the pair acting suspiciously.

The men tried to get away and gardaí saw one throw away a gun as they chased him. When they caught the suspect he was wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a second gun.

The two suspects who are aged 19 and 28, and known to gardaí are being detained at Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda stations and can be questioned for up to three days.

Both are known for their involvement in criminal activity and an ongoing feud between criminal gangs in south Dublin.
