A man has been seriously injured in a shooting in Dublin.

The 33-year-old was shot as he was driving along Seville Place in the north inner city at about 9.30pm.

He managed to drive the car to Store Street Garda Station where he abandoned it on the Luas line, ran in and reported he had been shot.

He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives believe at least two gunmen were involved.

They are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Store Street.

The victim is known to gardaí for suspected involvement in the drugs trade.

He was shot in the chest and arm in Ballyfermot in May of last year.

On that occasion, he drove to Cloverhill prison from where he was taken to hospital and successfully treated.
