A 40-year-old man has died following an accident in Co Leitrim.

The pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a teleporter on the Drumshambo to Aughacashel Road at around 1.05pm.

He was airlifted to Sligo General Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The teleporter was in the process of loading bales onto a trailer when the man was struck.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.

The driver of the teleporter was uninjured.
