A 26-year old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a homeless man at an apartment complex in Cork last week.

Gardaí are treating as murder the death of 58-year-old Liam Manley, who was originally from Gurranebraher.

Mr Manley's body was discovered close to an internal refuse chute on the ground floor of the City Garden apartment complex at North Main Street on 13 May.

A post-mortem examination revealed he had suffered injuries consistent with an assault prior to his death.

The man was arrested at around 6pm in Cork city centre and is being held at the Bridewell Garda Station.
