Two people have died in separate road crashes in counties Galway and Louth.

A man has died in a single-vehicle crash at Milltown, Co Galway.

The crash occurred at around 3.15pm.

It is understood the man's car hit a wall of a national school. He was alone in the car and no-one else was injured.

In Co Louth, a woman died in a two-car collision near Dunleer.

The 35-year-old was the only occupant of one of the cars.

Another woman, who was driving the second car, was seriously injured in the crash.

It happened on the R132 Dunleer to Monasterboice road just before midnight.

The injured woman was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

The road was closed to traffic in both directions to allow for a technical examination at the scene.
