An urgent case involving 19 British Telecom subcontractors has been put back for two days at Dublin Circuit Court.

The workers claim they are being unfairly made unemployed, when the maintenance contract they work on is transferred to other companies.

The workers claim that under EU law, they are entitled to transfer to the new contractors.

The contract between their employer Obelisk and British Telecom expires tonight.

BT has agreed that part of this work will go to the OC Power company.

BT is still negotiating for the remainder of the work with a different company, VNE Logistics.

Judge Martin Nolan said clarification was needed on several issues and put the case back until 4 April at 2pm.

He has also requested further details about their wages and the proportion relating to the BT contract.

Obelisk has agreed to retain the employees until 4 April.
