A man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at an AIB branch in Cork city.
The robbery took place at North Main Street at around 4.05pm.
A man, armed with a handgun, entered the bank and demanded cash from a teller.
He escaped on foot with an undisclosed sum of money.
No shots were fired and no-one was injured.
During a follow-up operation, a man in his 30s was arrested in the Shandon Street area and is being questioned at the Bridewell Garda Station.
Gardaí have appealed for people who were in the North Main St/North Quays area between 3.45pm and 4.15pm and who may have information on the robbery to contact Bridewell Garda Station at 021-4943330, or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
