An organisation representing British-based former residents of Magdalene Laundries has welcomed confirmation the Taoiseach will meet with them in London on Saturday.
A spokesperson for the Irish Women’s Survivors Support Network said they were delighted Enda Kenny was coming to meet them and allowing the women to have their say about their experience in the laundries.
The spokesperson said they looked forward to hearing what he had to say.
The group represents almost 500 former residents of industrial schools, orphanages and laundries, including up to 40 former Magdalene residents.
The meeting is to take place in the Irish Embassy in London.
It follows Mr Kenny's commitment in the Dáil yesterday to have more meetings with former residents at home and abroad before a Dáil debate on the McAleese Report next week.
The Taoiseach and Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore met members of an Irish-based support group in Government Buildings on Monday.
