The GAA County Board in Galway has expressed disappointment after a 2012 Leinster Senior Hurling Championship winner's medal was sold on eBay this morning.

A total of 41 bids were made, and it was eventually sold for €570.

Galway won the Leinster championship for the first time last year.

It is understood that the medal does not belong to any of the players who faced Kilkenny in the Leinster final, but to another, yet unknown, squad member.

Jarlath Cloonan from the Galway County Board's Hurling Committee said the incident was regrettable, and that the board would be investigating.
