Workers at the Old Darnley Lodge in Athboy, Co Meath are continuing their sit-in at the hotel, after it closed without notice a week ago.

The hotel, which was run by a Monaghan-based company Mitrespor Ltd, employed 45 full and part-time employees.

The doors were locked and a security firm was put in place at the premises just before midnight last Wednesday.

Workers say they have been contacted by an accountancy firm acting on behalf of Mitrespor Ltd requesting them to attend a meeting of creditors in Cavan town next month.

The hotel staff say they will continue their sit-in at the Old Darnley Lodge until this meeting takes place.
