A 16-year-old boy is in a serious condition after he was injured in a gun attack in Dublin.

The shooting occurred at Lismore Road in Crumlin at around 9pm.

The teenager was taken to St James's Hospital, where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The scene of the shooting has been preserved for a forensic examination.

The teenager was outside a house talking to a man in his 20s when he was hit in the back and head after a number of shots were fired from a passing car.

The car has been described as a black coloured saloon.
