A post mortem was to be carried out today on the body of a man in his 40s recovered from the water at Lough Derg in Co Tipperary.

The body was recovered at around 8pm last night by members of the Killaloe Search and Rescue Divers Unit.

A search operation was launched in the area yesterday after a speedboat was discovered upturned in the water close to Garrykennedy Bay.

The body was found about 30m from the boat. It was taken to the Mid-Western Regional hospital in Limerick.
