At least 30 jobs are to be created with the expansion of an alarm monitoring company in Dublin.

Alarm Control 24 officially opens its monitoring station in Sandyford today.

It plans to generate 30 positions within two years, with the potential for an additional 20 to 30 jobs in 2014.

Separately, engineering company FG Wilson says up to 260 jobs are to be lost at its plant in Larne, Co Antrim, by the end of the year.

The firm, which makes diesel and gas generators, said it was restructuring its business to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

It said it was also moving production of one of its generators to China, affecting about 160 agency workers.
