A 25-year-old man has appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court charged with possession of a sawn-off shotgun and three rounds of ammunition.
He was detained at O'Connell Avenue in Limerick city yesterday.
Brian Walsh, of St Michael's Lawn, Mahon, in Cork, who is unemployed, was granted free legal aid.
He was remanded in custody to appear in court again on Tuesday.
