A boil water notice has been issued by Limerick Co Council over fears that water in some areas may be contaminated.

The notice has been circulated as there are fears that the heavy rainfall may have contaminated the water supply in parts of the county this week.

Customers supplied by the Ardagh Water Scheme, Carrigeen Water Scheme, Tobergal water source and Feohanagh-Castlemahon Group Water Scheme are being told to boil their water before drinking or cooking.

The council issued the warning following consultations with the Health Service Executive.
