One of two fishermen airlifted to hospital from Lough Corrib in Co Galway last night has died.
The deceased man spent around 50 minutes in the water and died last night.
He has been named locally as Michael Ruane, 53, from Devon Park in Salthill.
It is believed the men were fishing about 2km north of Annaghdown when their boat was hit by a wave.
Mr Ruane fell into the water and the second man tried to rescue him, but was unable to do so.
Both men were airlifted to hospital by the coast guard suffering from hypothermia.
The second man, who is in his 40s, is being treated at Galway University Hospital.
