Two men have died following road crashes in Co Cavan and Australia.

The Co Cavan crash occurred at around 6.30am on the Killydoon to Gowna road.

The driver, who was in his 20s, died and another man who was travelling in the car was injured.

He was taken to Cavan General Hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The road was closed for a technical examination but has since reopened.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information on the crash to contact Cavan Garda Station at 049 4368800.

In a separate incident, a man from Co Galway has been killed in a road crash in Australia.

No details of the incident are available, but it's understood that the man, who's from the parish of Ardrahan, near Gort had only been in the country for five weeks.

The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that they are providing consular assistance to the family.
