Food and drinks company PepsiCo has opened a €10m research and development centre at Little Island in Co Cork.

The company, which manufactures Pepsi cola, says the centre will develop the next generation of its products.

The centre currently employs 18 people, and PepsiCo employs 600 people throughout Ireland.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton described it as “is a very welcome addition to the growing list of world-leading companies who are locating R&D facilities in Ireland.”
