A man has appeared before Bray District Court charged with the murder of a man whose remains were found in the Wicklow mountains over two years ago.
Clement Byrne with an address in Ballintone, Greenane, Rathdrum, Co Wicklow was arrested last night in Dublin Airport by Detective Sergeant Fergus O'Brien and taken to Wicklow Garda Station.
He was chargd with the murder of 26-year-old Stephen O'Meara in Balydonnell Wood, near Redcross, Co Wicklow, on or about the 9 August 2009.
Sergeant O'Brien told today's brief hearing the accused replied: "I didn't kill him" after being charged and cautioned.
Judge Murrough Connellan granted the accused legal aid and remanded him in custody to appear again before Cloverhill District Court on 3 February.
Mr O'Meara was the subject of garda appeals after going missing in August 2009.
His remains were discovered in the Wicklow Mountains on Christmas Eve 2009.
