The Army bomb Disposal Team made safe a viable Improvised Explosive Device in Dublin this afternoon.

The team was called after the device was found at house on Kilcronan Avenue in Clondalkin.

The IED, which was outside the house, was made safe. No controlled explosion was carried out.

The device has been taken away for forensic examination and the scene was declared safe at 3.15pm.

The Defence Forces have made safe 55 viable IEDs this year and today’s incident was the 236th call out for the Bomb Disposal Team, the highest since 1979.
