A 33-year-old man has appeared before Ballinasloe District Court on an assault charge.
John Lynch, with an address at 39 Churchview, Boyle, was charged with assault causing harm to Anita O'Hara, who is in her mid 30s.
Superintendent Tom Mullarkey of Boyle Garda station told the court he would be opposing any application for bail and Judge Geoffrey Browne remanded the man in custody.
He will appear again before Boyle District Court next Thursday.
