There were celebrations on Croagh Patrick today when Matt Loughrey, who set himself the challenge of climbing the Reek every day for a year, made his final and 365th trip to the summit.

A large crowd joined him on his final climb, some of whom had travelled from as far away as the US and France, to be there.

To date, Mr Loughrey has raised more than €30,000 for St Vincent de Paul.

He now hopes to take a well-earned rest for a few months, and to regain some two stone in weight, before he decides on his next daily challenge.
