SIAC - Claims it has paid all monies due to Conneely Construction

A Dublin construction company is protesting at the site of a new waste water treatment plant in north Co Dublin.

Around 20 people are engaged in the protest.

Conneely Construction claims the main contractor, SIAC, owes it €150,000 for work carried out on the site over the last two-and-a-half months.

SIAC disputes this and claims it has paid all monies due to Conneely Construction 'in accordance with the sub-contraction conditions'.

SIAC terminated Conneely Construction's contract last week on the grounds of 'lack of performance'.

A spokesperson for Conneely Construction said any 'lack of performance' was due to the fact that the company had not been paid and did not have the money for the required resources.

The group has vowed to continue the protest until the payment issue has been resolved.

The Director of Conneely Construction laid off his 12 workers last Friday when the contract was terminated.
