140 jobs are to be created in Shannon, Co Clare, by the end of the year and 160 by 2014.
The jobs are expected to be created by a joint venture between US company Zagg and a local Clare firm in an electronics facility in Shannon.
Zagg makes accessories for electronic products such as cases, screen protectors and headsets for mobile phones.
The company has moved into a 30,000sq.ft facility in the Shannon Industrial Estate from where it will serve its customers in Europe, Asia and Africa.
The joint venture will see 140 staff employed by the end of next year and 300 by the end of 2014.
It is expected that the Irish firm, which now employs around 40 staff, will create the extra jobs, with Zagg employing just 20 staff in Shannon.
A formal announcement is scheduled to be made next month.
