Three people have died in three separate accidents in counties Cork, Waterford and Tyrone.

A 38-year-old woman died after she was hit by a truck at Bantry in west Cork.

The collision happened just before 5pm this evening as the woman was walking at an area known as Slip in the town.

Gardaí say the collision happened near the local creamery and the Co-Action Centre.

The woman, who is from the town, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them at Bantry Garda Station on 027 20860.

The road is expected to remain closed for some time to allow for an examination by garda forensic road crash investigators.

Elsewhere, a 71-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a car on The Quay in Waterford City.

She was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead there a short time later.

The road at the scene of the collision is closed pending a forensic collision investigation.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact Gardaí at Waterford on 051 305300.

Meanwhile, a man in his sixties has died following a road crash outside Omagh, Co Tyrone.

The single-vehicle accident happened on the Gorticashel Road in the Mountfield area shortly after 4.30pm.

Road closures are in place.
