A 29-year-old man charged with assaulting an English motorist, who died after an alleged road rage attack in Dublin last September, has now been charged with murder.

Raymond Bates, 49, sustained serious head injuries following an incident in Sandymount. He died in hospital four days later.

Last October, Karl Donohoe, of Fisherman’s Wharf in Ringsend, was charged with causing serious harm to Mr Bates.

At Dublin District Court today, the charge was struck out and he was charged with the murder of Mr Bates.

He was remanded in custody to appear again next Friday.
