Chairman of the Fine Gael Party, Padraic McCormack TD has said he is disappointed not to be on the Galway West ticket for next year's General Election.

Senator Fidelma Healy Eames and Councillor Brian Walsh were selected at a convention in Salthill last night.

The party has the option of adding another name to the ticket, but Deputy McCormack has declined to say whether he would be interested in pursuing this option.

Party sources say the absence of some 200 delegates due to weather conditions may have affected Deputy McCormack's votes.
