A man in his 30s is recovering in hospital after being shot in Swords in Dublin this morning.

A number of armed men forced their way into his house near Forest Road just after 8.10am and shot him in the arm and leg.

It is believed that they fired up to five shots and that the shooting is connected to a feud.

The man, who was originally from Sheriff Street, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is being treated.

A short time later, a man from the rival family criminal gang was attacked and severely beaten at his home in Seville Place in Dublin.

Three men have been arrested in connection with that assault.

The three men are aged 55, 32 and 19 and can be questioned for 24 hours.
